In December 2021, E-THREAD travelled to Fiji and invited students from the local village of Cuvu to participate in a friendly game of rugby to help promote and inspire self-worth and confidence.

E-THREAD teamed up with the Cronulla Sharks and through their Sharks have Hearts charity program students were treated to rugby jerseys and footballs donated by the club as part of their social commitment to create and foster inclusivity and diversity.

The students quickly donned their new blue and white jerseys and put their game faces on. These young and promising students entertained the crowd as they showcased their talents, skills, and quick speed with their teacher cheering on from the sidelines, “The boys love playing rugby, most of them don’t own footballs so they fill sand into empty water bottles.”

After the final whistle was blown, the students along with members of ETHREAD gathered for a group photo while the students placed one hand on their chests and loudly chanted “Sharks have Heart!”

e-THREAD hoped these engagement programs offered people of all ages the opportunities to become positive contributors to their own communities. “Our vision is aimed at helping people work towards positive change, we need to start at the personal level so that each member of the community is recognised and valued. Only then can we start to work collectively as a community through shared social and environment values.”
